I've been looking into buying a new digital camera for several weeks now. I sold my old Kodak Easyshare thing I had since 2002 a few weeks ago for practically free. I decided on a Panasonic Lumix FZ30k for my next camera. I was getting ready to go out and buy it when I thought that for the same price I could get a entry level digital slr with a basic lens instead of a fancy point and shoot. So I jumped on the net to do research and decided on a Nikon D50! Only thing I gave up in getting the D50 instead of the Lumix was being able to shoot videos. I'm still figuring out all that this camera can do but I already think I made a good choice.

I'm still sorta a photo noob and already had one friend ask: why didnt u just get a 250 dollar 6 megapixel camera instead??? All I could think of replying with is: Well, uh I'll get back to you on why not in a few months when I figure this sucker out haha
